BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — A 10-week-old stray Chihuahua rescued from the Neponset Circle area has been adopted, the Animal Rescue League of Boston announced Sunday.

The puppy named Sparkle was found along an I-93 on-ramp this past week. According to ARL, a good Samaritan had seen Sparkle in the area for several days, but when they noticed the puppy was walking towards the busy roadway, they stepped in and saved her.

"Weighing just 3 pounds and being an all-black dog, Sparkle is incredibly lucky she wasn’t struck by a vehicle, and ARL is extremely grateful to her rescuer," said Mike DeFina, ARL's Media Relations Manager.

DeFina said the good Samaritan is a resident at the Pine Street Inn. After bringing Sparkle to the inn, staff brought the puppy to ARL's Boston Animal Care and Adoption Center.

"Sparkle was frightened upon intake, and while she presented with an abnormal gait, she was determined to be in good overall health," DeFina said.

Sparkle was put up for adoption on Sunday and found a forever home that same day, ARL said.
