HINGHAM, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) —  Boston Harbor City Cruises is offering a special Salem Halloween ferry service later in October.

The ferries will run weekends October 19-20, and October 26-27, with additional trips on the days surrounding Halloween October 30-31.

The ferry service offers a transportation alternative for South Shore residents looking to visit Salem during peak spooky season without worrying about sitting in Boston traffic or bearing a long train ride.

WBZ NewsRadio spoke to Nancy, who commutes on the MBTA ferry for work, and she was delighted to hear about the direct ferry service from Hingham to Salem.

“The boat in rough weather runs so consistent hands down it's the best mode of transportation,” said Nancy.

“This is absolutely the only way to travel,” said another commuter.

This is the first time that a direct ferry service has been offered from Hingham to Salem.

South Shore resident Pramod plans to head to Salem on the ferry and already has his trip planned out.

“So, we’ll be able to see a pirate museum, a witch museum and a dungeon museum [too], he said.

The Hingham to Salem ferry costs $29 one way. Children under the age of 3 sail for free.
