REVERE, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) Patients and staff at the new NeighborHealth are now treated to rows of portraits, landscapes, and murals that bring a splash of color to an otherwise sterile health sector.

There's also a brand-new mural at NeighborHealth's East Boston location that can been seen from Gove Street. Internationally renowned graffiti artist Ledania worked with HarborArts to get the commission done.

"Art just being accessible to everyone— that's such an integral part of a healthy community," Matt Pollock, one of the leads at HarborArts, said. Together with Felipe Ortiz, Jackie Reeves, and the other artists that work with HarborArts, new pieces of art were crafted to welcome clients into the new space.

"They partner with artists from all over the world to bring them into our communities and tell stories. They were just a natural partner for us," NeighborHealth CEO Greg Wilmot said.

Reeves decided to paint historical women in STEM, hanging their portraits where anyone can pass by and feel inspired.

"For women in science, there was a time where there was no women in science. It's nice to celebrate the women with these colorful paintings," Reeves said.

There's enough art in the pieces "Expressions of Community: Honoring Voices Through Art," you'd swear it was a gallery and not a health care office.

Also on site to perform was Nathaly Valencia Guapacha, a musician who works with La Colaborativa as a teacher and advocate for music therapy.
