BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — When it comes to spring weather predictions, they can be all over the place depending on the source.
The Farmers’ Almanac is out with its 2025 Spring Outlook, predicting that New England will have a cool and wet spring ahead. That prediction is much different from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), which expects slightly warmer temperatures and an average amount of precipitation.
“They might hit the mark occasionally, but I don’t think it has to do with anything in reality,” said one man putting his faith behind NOAA.
Aside from lots of rain in the coming months, the Farmer’s Almanac expects an “unusually late winter storm” in the first week of April. While snow has certainly made an appearance in past Aprils, like the 1997 April Fool's Day Blizzard, it would be quite a surprise with recent trends.
“If it comes, it’ll go quick,” said another man.
“That might finally put me over the edge because I’ve already sort of checked out on winter,” said another man.
With drought concerns still lingering from last year, a wet spring would help cut down on red flag warnings and brush fire concerns across the state. Currently, each region of the Commonwealth is either in Critical or Significant drought status.
The Drought Management Task Force is expected to meet on Tuesday, April 8 at 10:00 a.m. to reassess drought concerns.
