BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Stacy Wakefield, the wife of former Red Sox pitcher Tim Wakefield, passed away on Wednesday.
The Red Sox issued a statement on behalf of the Wakefield family announcing her passing, just under five months since her husband passed away. They said she died at her home surrounded by family, friends, caretakers and nurses.
“We will remember Stacy as a strong, loving, thoughtful and kind person, who was as down-to-earth as they come. We feel so lucky to have had her in our lives, and we take comfort in the fact that she will be reunited with Tim, the love of her life,” said the family in the statement.

The Wakefield family also asked for privacy at this time.
