HINGHAM, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Coffee drinkers in the Greater Boston Area can now add a dose of olive oil to their daily cup of joe.

Starbucks has expanded its line of Oleato drinks--coffee beverages infused with olive oil--to Boston and several other cities in the United States such as Austin, Chicago, Dallas, and Miami.

Oleato first launched in Italy earlier this year, then debuted in the U.S. in March in California, Illinois, New York, and Washington. The line is also available internationally in Dubai, Kuwait, London, Osaka, Paris, Riyadh, and Tokyo.

"Oleato™ brings together the unexpected – Starbucks® arabica coffee deliciously infused with a press of Partanna® cold pressed, extra virgin olive oil. The result is a velvety smooth, delicately sweet and lush coffee that uplifts each cup with an extraordinary new flavor and texture," Starbucks said in an announcement Tuesday.

WBZ NewsRadio's Jim Mackay went to the Starbucks on Lincoln Street in Hingham to see if any customers ordered from the Oleato menu.

"Everything tastes good with olive oil when you cook food, so why not the drink," said Shell from Weymouth. She tried one of the olive oil-infused drinks and gave it a thumbs up.

"It made a frothy top to it and it actually was kind of creamy," Shell described.

Jim ordered a Golden Foam Cold Brew with vanilla. His verdict? Oily, but pretty good.
