BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Department of Conservation and Recreation announced its programming Wednesday for the April 8 solar eclipse.
State parks around Massachusetts will offer free educational events and guided viewing sessions, according to a press release.
“This partial solar eclipse is a unique opportunity for people of all ages to connect with the world around them and witness the wonders of the universe,” DCR Commissioner Brian Arrigo said in the press release. “We're excited to offer educational opportunities for the public to learn about the science behind eclipses and witness this awe-inspiring event firsthand.”

Massachusetts will experience an 85-percent partial eclipse, according to the press release.
Parks will supply attendees free viewing glasses.
Programs start at 2:20 p.m. and run until 4:20 p.m. at the following sites:
- Blackstone River and Canal Heritage State Park, 287 Oak St., Uxbridge, Mass.
- Blue Hills Reservation, 840 Hillside St., Milton, Mass.
- Borderland State Park, 259 Massapoag Ave., North Easton, Mass.
- Nickerson State Park, 3488 Main St., Brewster, Mass.
- Waquoit Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve, 131 Waquoit Highway, East Falmouth, Mass.
- Halibut Point State Park, 4 Gott Ave., Rockport, Mass.
- Great Falls Discovery Center, 2 Avenue A, Turners Falls, Mass.
- Mount Greylock State Reservation, 30 Rockwell Road, Lanesborough, Mass.
