State Police Bust Driver With More Than 360 Pounds Of Pot

STURBRIDGE, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Massachusetts State Police found a man they pulled over for speeding Wednesday night had more than 362 pounds of marijuana in his vehicle.

Alexander Kong, 40, of Bayside, New York, was arrested for trafficking marijuana and cited for speeding. He was unable to post his $15,040 bail.

Police initially pulled Kong over for allegedly going 50 mph on the Exit 3A ramp on Route 84 in Sturbridge around 8:35 p.m.; the speed limit on that ramp is 30 mph.

Additional troopers came to the scene to assist, and found more than 362 pounds of pot stored in three cardboard boxes, seven duffel bags, and seven trash bags.

"Each one-pound marijuana package was heat-sealed," State Police said.

Kong is set to appear in Dudley District Court later Thursday.
