State's Largest Covid Vaccination Site Officially Open At Gillette Stadium

FOXBORO, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — The state's largest Covid-19 vaccination site officially opened, on Monday, at Gillette Stadium and officials say it's being used to vaccinate first responders and health care workers.

Gillette Stadium partnered with CIC Health based in Cambridge to operate the vaccination site.

Rodrigo Martinez with CIC says you must have an appointment and be screened to get a vaccine.

"The critical question here is whether they've had an allergic reaction to a vaccination before or they have used an EpiPen for any other reason and therefore they will go to the section which we call higher risk," Martinez said.

Those people categorized as higher risk will be observed for 30 minutes after getting their shot and everyone else for just 15 minutes.

Martinez adds they're vaccinating 500 people a day through Friday. Workers at the site also screen people to see if they're pregnant or breastfeeding.

A woman named Valerie who is a nurse received her shot on Monday.

She says the shot was easy and she had no pain or side effects. Valerie adds she is glad she was able to get the vaccine to protect herself and the people around her.

Starting next Monday, the site will vaccinate 1,250 people a day.
