BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Gabrielle Gilmore, wife of Patriots cornerback Stephon Gilmore, is refuting reports that her husband had dinner with quarterback Cam Newton the same night Newton found out he tested positive for COVID-19.
Last week, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Newton and Gilmore had dinner together before Newton found out he had tested positive for the coronavirus on November 2nd. When Gilmore tested positive a few days later, there was widespread assumption that Gilmore caught the virus from Newton.
On Tuesday, Gilmore’s wife debunked that claim, tweeting that there was "no dinner" between the New England teammates.
"There was no dinner out," Gabrielle Gilmore tweeted. "I’m going to help you out so you guys stop reporting false news."
"I’ve seen it circulating a couple times, and now I’m annoyed," she later added. "I’m not going back and forth with anybody. I said what I said."
While Newton and Gilmore are still on the NFL's COVID-19 list, they could be eligible to play again as soon as this weekend in the rescheduled game against the Denver Broncos.
