MANCHESTER, N.H. (WBZ News Radio) — The stepmother of a missing girl from New Hampshire appeared in court Thursday after being arrested Wednesday.
Kayla Montgomery, stepmother of seven-year-old Harmony Montgomery, is now being held on $5,000 bail after she was arrested and charged with felony wired fraud in connection to the child’s disappearance. Harmony was reported missing last week after not having been seen since 2019.

Adam Montgomery, Harmony's biological father, was arrested on Tuesday and charged with hitting Harmony in the face in 2019, and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child. He's being held without bail.
While Neither Adam nor Kayla Montgomery have been charged in the girl's disappearance, police said Kayla had been collecting food stamps for Harmony even though the child had not been living with her or her husband for the past two years.

If released, Kayla will not be allowed to have contact with her husband. She will also be ordered to continue living at her current address, cannot travel outside the state of New Hampshire, cannot possess any weapons or consume an excessive amount of alcohol or drugs.
As of Thursday, the reward money for information on Harmony's whereabouts has been raised to $60,000.
