MELROSE, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A wheelchair transfer van that was stolen from right outside of Melrose Wakefield Hospital early Thursday morning has been found—and two suspects are under arrest.

The Armstrong Ambulance van had arrived around 6:30 a.m. to pick up a patient, but when staff came back outside ten minutes later, it was gone.

No one was on board the van at the time it was stolen, and officials said no medication or medical equipment was inside.

Officials asked the public for help finding the van, and eventually, a driver spotted it on Route 1 in Peabody and called Massachusetts State Police.

"We attempted a stop, suspects refused to stop, we pursued into Lynn, where suspects crashed into parked car," State Police said in a tweet.

The suspects, who have not yet been identified, were taken to the State Police barracks in Danvers to be booked.
