STONEHAM, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — The summer has been extended by a week for public school students in Stoneham.
That's due to construction work delays at the new high school.
The first day of school was originally scheduled for Wednesday, August 28, but it has now been pushed out to Tuesday, September 3.
In a statement, school officials said that while it's just the high school affected by construction delays, the decision was made to keep all of the school grades in the district on the same schedule.
It also said that while efforts are being made to stick with the new school schedule, parents will be notified as soon as possible if there are any additional delays.
