STONEHAM, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — All masses at St. Patrick Parish in Stoneham, Mass. have been canceled through April 10 because of a COVID-19 outbreak.

In a letter to the congregation, Father Mario Orrigo said that a growing number of parish staff and clergy have tested positive. This means that the Holy Triduum and Easter Masses have been canceled.

“I do not make this decision lightly as it comes during the most sacred and meaningful time in the Church's calendar, Easter,” Father Mario said. “My heart is broken by this news. Yet, as we consider how this sacrifice disrupts the plans all of us have made; I am struck by how it can help so many.”

Members of the church are urged to call the parish office on April 12 to reschedule any mass intention. The Triduum and the Easter mass will also be livestreamed.
