Stoughton Man Charged With The Murder Of His Wife

STOUGHTON, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A Stoughton man was arrested and has been charged with murder after his wife was found dead by police in the couple’s apartment.

Police arrived at the scene on Bennett Drive in Stoughton around midnight on Friday.

According to authorities, 43-year-old Telma Bras was found dead with apparent stab wounds. Her husband, 48-year-old Ilton Rodrigues has been charged with her murder. He was found with suffering with injuries from what appeared to be a suicide attempt.

Rodrigues was transported to a Boston hospital where he was placed under arrest.

The couple lived in the apartment with their two children, who were both home during the incident.

“Both the children at this hour are safe. They’re receiving services that have been arranged for them. Obviously a very traumatic period for the children. And we’re communicating with them as appropriate and recognizing that they have a significant bit of trauma to overcome,” Norfolk County District Attorney Michael Morrissey said.

Rodrigues will be arraigned either in his hospital room or at Stoughton District Court, according to authorities.
