ANDOVER, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Last week, Andover High School students staged a walkout in protest of the firing of their hockey coach. The parents protested on Saturday.
On Wednesday, Andover High School hockey coach Chris Kuchar was informed that his coaching contract would not be renewed despite his team’s winning record.
The coach and many parents are upset. They said that the firing was a form of retaliation on a personal matter. Back in 2016, the Andover school superintendent requested that Kuchar be fired for mistreatment of his son, who was on the hockey team at the time.
“He’s saying that this was the principal’s decision, but the problem I have with that is the history because of the issues that had to do with his son,” Crystal, an organizer of the rally, said.
