Study: Boston No Longer Considered Most Traffic-Congested City In U.S.

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Boston is no longer considered the most traffic-congested city in the country, according to a newly released study.

On their Global Traffic Scorecard, analytics company INRIX placed Boston in the No. 4 spot for the year 2020. This after drivers in the city spent 68% fewer hours in traffic last year.

New York City was ranked first, followed by Philadelphia and Chicago.

It appears the change was because of the pandemic, especially with more people working from home. The overall number of vehicles on Boston roadways were down 26% last year.

In 2019, the average Boston driver spent $2,205 worth of time in traffic, while last year it was down to $711.
