LYNN, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A recent study confirmed Lynn residents’ frustration with downtown parking.
Stantec, an engineering and architecture company, found that the 1-to-2 hour parking limits among the 7,600 spaces downtown are unappealing to visitors who want to spend more time in the city.

According to the study, residents feel there should be an update to the pricing and parking regulations, as they are currently inconsistent in space and location fees.
Overnight parking also proves to be challenging due to street sweeping schedules and missing security elements such as lighting, the study found.
"It can definitely be improved," Lynn resident Anthony told WBZ NewsRadio Thursday. "I’ve always seen a problem with the parking. Like I said before, something has to be done."
The study is part of a new parking strategy developed by the City of Lynn and Stantec to make the downtown area more inclusive and vibrant.
Among the strategy’s goals are to ensure the parking system provides options for different types of users, create a parking system that is accessible for everyone, and streamline how parking is managed and enforced.
