BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Red Sox game against the Miami Marlins was canceled Sunday afternoon as rain swept over the Boston area.
It would have been just the second Red Sox game at Fenway in more than a year to be open to a full crowd, after the state's capacity restrictions lifted Saturday.
The game was already in doubt heading into the afternoon, with the Red Sox delaying the first pitch just before 1:00 PM. Final word came down from the team an hour later.
The game against the Marlins will be played on June 7th, at 5:10 PM.
The Red Sox also announced that tickets bought for Sunday's game will be good for the rain date next Monday.
