BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — It's no secret that Boston Red Sox fans are outspoken when it comes to east coast rivalries, Sweet Caroline by Neil Diamond, and new Major League Baseball rules— but did you know that Fenway fans are being called the second most annoying and arrogant in the nation?

That's according to an online retailer Crestline, which surveyed a thousand baseball fans nationwide on which fans are the most and least pleasant to be around. In terms of behavior, Boston was ranked to have the third worst mannered fanbase.

WBZ's Adam Kaufman shared these findings with Bostonians around town, some of which were unconcerned.

"The only time you can be annoying and arrogant is when you've won. The fact that we've had four World Series Championships in the last 20 years, that gives us the right to do that. My entire childhood there was nothing to be arrogant about, so I like this turn of events," said Tim of the Red Sox Team Store.

"That definitely makes sense, but I think there's a line of demarcation between North Shore and South Shore Red Sox fans— the South Shore fans might be a little bit more arrogant," said another fan.

But not everyone agreed, saying there are other MLB fanbases to consider.

"I think they're wrong, Yankees fans are probably number one," one fan said.

It turns out that's exactly what the Crestline survey found, New York Yankees fans were ranked in first place for most annoying and worst behaved fans.

WBZ's Adam Kaufman (@AdamMKaufman) reports.
