BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — A new survey showed a majority of Franklin Park users support renovating White Stadium and moving a professional women's soccer team into the space, the Franklin Park Coalition said in a press release.
32 percent of the more than 700 respondents to the coalition's survey said they were "all for" the renovation, according to the press release. 24 percent said they were "cautiously" supportive.
One in five respondents said they were firmly against the project.
Opponents reported concerns about traffic, parking and other factors that could be affected if the Boston Unity soccer team moved into the stadium.
"Park users want to ensure that the stadium does not infringe on their existing experience of the park," the coalition said in its report. "If concerns are addressed, we believe there is an exciting path forward for a renovated White Stadium."

The Emerald Necklace Conservancy sued the City of Boston, Boston Unity Soccer Partners and other backers of the renovation project last month.
In the lawsuit, the conservancy argued the project would "fundamentally alter the nature and feel of a significant portion of Franklin Park."
Respondents to the Franklin Park Coalition's survey referred to the park as an "emerald jewel," an "urban oasis" and "sacred," according to the press release.
