Suspect Arraigned After Homicide In Barre Friday Morning

BARRE, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Authorities are investigating a homicide that occurred at a home in Barre on Friday morning.

Local and state police responded to the residence on Town Farm Road at around 9 a.m. Friday following a report of a homicide involving a male victim and a male suspect. The scene was secured and processed by the State Police Crime Scene Services Section.

As the Worcester Telegram reports, a nearby business went into lockdown after hearing of a shooting. Although few details were given, officials said there is no threat to public safety.

According to a spokesman for Worcester District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr., a suspect was taken into custody. He is scheduled to be arraigned at the Western Worcester District Court in East Brookfield at 2 p.m. Friday.

WBZ-TV's Christina Hager said the victim is "a male homeowner and solar home builder in Barre."
