MIDDLEBOROUGH, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) -- Police reported that the shooting suspect wanted for firing gunshots outside a MassDOT public works depot has been captured.

The man was identified Raymond Gibson, a 55-year-old from Falmouth.

After a massive search, Police Chief Joseph Perkins said they found the man laying in the woods around 11:30 a.m. where he was "arrested peacefully."

“We’re extremely thankful that no one was injured in this incident,” Perkins said in a statement. “This was not an easy response given the heavy rain from the storm and it was great work by our officer who spotted the suspect in the woods, leading to his arrest.”

Middleborough Police set up a perimeter surrounding the facility, where there was a large apartment complex with 240 units in it.

During the search, officers had a "shelter in place" on West Grove Street and Evergreen Drive.

A .357 revolver was found near the scene and officials said the gun was registered in his name. Gibson has a valid license to carry the weapon.

Gibson was arraigned on Friday at Wareham District Court.
