BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — MBTA Transit Police say officers had quite the interruption at South Station on Thursday afternoon. Officers were in the middle of an afternoon roll call meeting when police say a man entered the station, walked up to the substation door, and started smashing out the window with a hammer.

Transit Police say this happened at about 3:30 p.m. The man, later identified as 45 year-old Michael Williams, was immediately arrested by the officers at the station.

Police offered no word on his exact charges or arraignment, but did publish security photos of the incident that show a suspect raising a hammer and smashing a hole in the center of the Transit Police door.
