Suspect In Series Of Random Attacks In Waltham Held Without Bail

WALTHAM, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A Waltham man, charged in a series of unprovoked attacks in the city, was ordered held without bail during his arraignment Wednesday morning.

Clauvens Janvier, 24, was arrested in December of last year in connection to an attack on Nov. 11 when the suspect allegedly assaulted an 18-year-old man and struck him with the non-blade side of a machete.

Following an investigation, Janvier was charged with attacking ten additional men throughout the month of November. The suspect allegedly attacked multiple victims with a blunt object, as well as committing other alleged physical assaults.

Janvier is also facing firearm charges in connection to a Nov. 24 incident where he allegedly fire a gun at a car leaving a Willow Street gas station following a verbal altercation with a man in the gas station parking lot.

The Middlesex District Attorney’s Office laid out their case against Janvier during the arraignment.

“Search warrants were obtained also for cell phone numbers associated with Mr. Janvier. The government and the police are still culling through those records, but they are consistent with his phone being in and around the area of these crimes,” Assistant District Attorney Beth Dunigan said.

A not guilty plea was entered on Janvier’s behalf. He will be held without bail until a dangerousness hearing on April 1.
