Suspect Dies In Officer Involved Shooting In Manchester, N.H.

MANCHESTER, N.H. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A suspect has died after an officer involved shooting in Manchester, New Hampshire Friday morning, police said.

Manchester police said at around 9:30 a.m., officers patrolling the area of Pine and Plummer streets found 35-year-old Jake Chiaradonna, who was wanted in connection with a robbery that happened Thursday.

Police said Chiaradonna was found inside a stolen car. Officers ordered him to exit the vehicle, but he refused to comply.

A SWAT team was called to the scene and a building on Pine Street was evacuated as a precaution. Authorities urged the public to stay away from the area.

Police said during an attempt to subdue Chiaradonna, he stabbed a K9 dog with a screwdriver. Chiaradonna then fled on foot and assaulted the K9 again, before getting into a confrontation with officers around the side of a building, said officials.

During the confrontation, an officer fired his gun and struck Chiaradonna. The suspect was taken to the hospital, where he died several hours later.

Police said no law enforcement officers were physically injured and there is no threat to the public. The injured K9 was taken to the veterinarian for treatment and later released.

An investigation is ongoing.
