MIDDLEBOROUGH, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — One person is dead after a collision between a UPS delivery truck and a SUV in Middleborough Friday afternoon, authorities said.
Middleborough Police and Fire responded around 1:30 p.m. to Route 28 in the area of Cushman and Rocky Gutter streets for a report of a head-on crash.
Police said the truck and the SUV had collided and caught fire.
The driver of the SUV was taken to the hospital, where they died from their injuries, officials said. Their identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The delivery truck driver was also hospitalized, said police.
Officials said the drivers were the only occupants of the vehicles.
Route 28 is closed to traffic between Cushman and Rocky Gutter streets while first responders remain on scene. The crash is under investigation.
