SWAMPSCOTT, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio 1030) — A little more than a month since a Swampscott restaurant had to shut down after the partial collapse of its seawall, the owner of Mission On the Bay says he plans on reopening June 9th.

Marty Bloom said the wall has been stabilized since part of it collapsed on May 4th.

Engineers believe erosion was the cause of the collapse.

Bloom said he had to scramble to relocate a number of events that had already been booked at the venue.

And he said he was able to relocate about half of his staff to his other restaurants while Mission was closed.

Now, he said a priority is to reopen as soon as practical so that he can get his employees back to work and honor all the commitments that have been booked.

Mission on the Bay is located right on King’s Beach along the Lynn shoreline in Swampscott.
