Swansea Crash On Route 195 East Leaves Driver With Serious Injuries

SWANSEA, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Saturday afternoon, the Massachusetts State Police said that they responded to a rollover crash on Route 195 east in Swansea that resulted in life-threatening injuries to the driver of the vehicle.

Officials said that investigation showed that a 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLS was heading eastbound near the 7.4-mile marker when, for unknown reasons, the vehicle exited the right edge of the road and went down into an embankment, rolling over.

The driver, a 33-year-old man from Malden, was ejected from the vehicle and suffered life-threatening injuries, police said. The MSP said the victim was transported to Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River and then brought to Rhode Island Hospital where he was last said to be in critical condition.

The passenger, the driver's 11-year-old son, was wearing a seatbelt and was also transported to Charlton Memorial for potential minor injuries.

The incident is still under investigation, police said.
