WILMINGTON, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — If you identify as a chocolate "foodie" and you were at Shriner's Auditorium in Wilmington on Sunday— you probably felt like you were in the right place. The Chocolate Expo kicked off with a bang, with face painting and balloon animals for the kids, and a plethora of chocolate-related events for all.

WBZ's Matt Shearer got in on the action, and decided that the best way to blend into the convention would be to dress up as a chocolate chip cookie— needless to say, he fit right in.

Chocolate-covered taco shells, chocolate cotton candy, and alcohol-infused chocolate were just some of the products being offered up at the expo. Much to the surprise of attendees, there were a slew of cosplayers at the event with everything from Willy Wonka to 'The Nut Man.'

"You could put chocolate on rocks, and I would eat it," said one attendee.

The sugar high didn't end there either, Chef Lawrence Rosenberg was at the event to showcase chocolate-covered bacon from a truck that had a horn that squealed like a pig.

"I'm a ham, they treat me like a pig, but all I can say is 'oinks for coming out!' 'Pick your nose,' which is a peanut butter cup with bacon inside. We do 'pig poop' which is the broken pieces," Rosenberg said.

Though the event may or may not have been the best for dental health, attendees for the most part felt unconcerned.

"Oh man they're holding up! I've got three in my mouth and six in my pocket," said an attendee named Dave.
