BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Always look on the bright side.

That's how many Orange Line commuters were feeling on the first day of another closure on the MBTA.

This shutdown is on a busy section of the Orange Line that stretches between Forest Hills, Ruggles, Back Bay, and South Station.

Free shuttle bus service is replacing the out-of-service trains, an option that many riders welcome. "They pretty much run I would say better than the train," said one rider.

"The shuttles are actually running good, they always are," said another.

And Ron agreed shuttle buses are a better option. "Whenever the shuttle buses are up, they actually run faster than the trains," he said.

The MBTA said the work on the tracks that started Oct. 8 will last until Oct. 20 resulting in faster service.

This rider acknowledged maintenance work on the 'T' is a reality. "I know sometimes people complain about it, but hey, if it has to be done, it has to be done."

The MBTA said Green Line service is being expanded to help handle the expected increase in riders due to the Orange Line work.
