BEVERLY, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — There are some elementary school students in Beverly who are enjoying the benefits of a new outdoor classroom.

School officials said after schools reopened following the pandemic there was a lot of outdoor classroom time, but there was no building for that purpose.

Gabrielle Montevecchi, Principal of the Hannah Elementary School in Beverly, said a proposal was made to build an outdoor classroom and the Hannah Parent Teacher Organization got behind the idea. "They raised more than $50,000 to get the project started," she said. "We then put the project before the school committee in Beverly, and they met us on the rest of the funding."

Now, the school has a building where its students are outside and learning while close to nature.
