TAUNTON, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A 21-year-old New Bedford man was cited in a Wednesday morning crash with a school bus that left two students and the bus driver hurt.
The crash happened around 7:55 a.m. on Route 140 Northbound near Exit 11 in Taunton.
The bus was carrying 35 students in their teens to Bristol County Agricultural High School when an Isuzu box truck owned by a New Bedford construction company and driven by the 21-year-old New Bedford man changed lanes in front of it. The bus then slammed into the back of the truck, and the truck side-swiped a flatbed.
Two of the students on the bus, as well as the driver, a 57-year-old Acushnet woman, were taken to Taunton's Morton Hospital with minor injuries.
The truck driver and his passenger, a 34-year-old New Bedford woman, were not injured. Neither were the two 34-year-old men in the flatbed truck.
State Police said the truck driver was cited for following too closely and for making an unsafe lane change.
