Taunton Industrial Explosion Injures Three Workers

TAUNTON, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — An industrial explosion early Sunday morning in Taunton injured three workers. The explosion occurred at the IQE plant on John Hancock Road.

Firefighters, who were called to the facility around 12:30 a.m., found three workers with flash burns on their hands and faces.

Given the possibility that hazardous materials might have been released into the air, the Taunton Fire Department declared a hazmat incident.

Upon further investigation, it was found that no hazardous materials were released. According to authorities, the danger was isolated to a single piece of manufacturing equipment.

The injured employees were treated and released from Morton Hospital.

Authorities are still investigating the cause of the explosion.
