TAUNTON, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio)— The Taunton Police Detective Division is searching for a woman suspected of stabbing a worker outside of Morton Hospital on Tuesday.
Taunton Police said in a Facebook post the woman approached the Morton Hospital employee who was outside on a break and stabbed the employee multiple times. The victim, a 44-year-old Taunton woman, said the suspect approached her from behind and pulled her by her ponytail before attacking her, according to a press release from the police.
The police department released this photo, taken by the victim after the assault, of the suspect and is asking for help in identifying the subject in the photo.
Police said this incident occurred around 1:40 p.m. near North Pleasant Street next to the Thayer building and close to the O'Keefe-Wade Funeral Home. After the incident, the victim reportedly walked back into the hospital and notified fellow employees about the attack. She was treated at Morton Hospital and later released.
The victim told police she did not know her attacker and that the attack appeared to be random and unprovoked.
