BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Dorchester was the first stop of 40 for Teamster Local 25 on their mission to spread holiday cheer to the less fortunate this season.

Teamster members dropped off gifts at the Franklin Field Apartment Complex on Thursday morning as part of the Teamsters Local 25 Holiday Toy Drive.

Volunteers unloaded over 30 large bags filled with toys for the children living in the apartment complex.

Nancy Campbell, a Teamsters 25 Business Agent, was happy to share holiday joy with the children.

“We are so lucky to have over 13,000 Local 25 Teamster members who donate toys, donate money, and donate their time to our toy drive every year, and it seems like every year we are able to help more and more children,” said Campbell. “Each bag is probably worth a good 5-600 dollars’ worth of toys.”

Although Campbell has been doing the event for a few years, she said she’s seeing something different this year.

“We’ve made a ton of deliveries, and we’re hearing back that they just don’t have enough toys, or children are on wait lists for toys, which is unacceptable to the Teamsters,” said Campbell. “We’re actually making second deliveries to some of these community organizations to make sure every single child has a toy.”

Campbell said they will deliver toys up until the 23rd and 24th, and if anyone still needs a present, they will deliver.
