EVERETT, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A long-time Massachusetts institution is celebrating its centennial birthday.
Teddie Peanut Butter has been making the beloved sandwich spread in both smooth and chunky varieties since 1925.
For this special milestone, the company opened its Everett factory floor on Friday for some people to get a glimpse at the making of the magic.
“We have a lot of secret machinery that gives us this special grind that makes teddy what it is,” Mark Nazarian, the director of sales and marketing, told WBZ NewsRadio.
He added that while nearly 60% of Teddie’s consumers prefer smooth peanut butter, his favorite is the chunky peanut butter “because the ‘chunky’ people will also eat smooth, so [they] play better with others.”
Governor Maura Healey was also in attendance. She called it “the world’s greatest peanut butter,” adding that it’s coming from “somebody who consumes it in her own home, I can attest to that.”
