OXFORD, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A 15-year-old boy was shot and wounded Saturday night in Oxford, Mass.A 17-year-old suspect will now face multiple charges, including attempted murder.
According to police, the incident supposedly occurred when the two teenagers got into a fight in the center of town. The 17-year-old then allegedly pulled out a semi-automatic handgun and shot the 15-year-old boy on Main Street.
The teen was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The suspect initially ran away from the scene, but was caught by police shortly after, according to authorities.
“This is not a usual event in the town of Oxford. That’s why I was glad to see that all the resources responded and assisted us to help us through this chaotic event,” Police Chief Anthony Saad said. “I want to assure the public this was not a random act, and they should go about their Memorial Day weekend activities as planned.”
