REVERE, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A teenage girl was struck by a car Halloween night in Revere while out trick-or-treating with her friends.
The 14-year-old victim and her two friends were crossing American Legion Highway towards a subway station near Bell Circle Rotary when the incident occurred.
Her friends say that she may not have been on the crosswalk at the time.
"We all started screaming 'Call 911! Call 911!'" said Aya Beno, one of the victim's friends who witnessed the collision. "She walked ahead of us, the car was speeding and it hit her."
Rania Benouardia, a sister to one of the friends, rushed to the scene.
"She just told us she was bleeding from the mouth really bad and she got hit really hard," Benouardia said. "It's pretty scary."
The girl was rushed to a nearby hospital. The extent of her injuries is unknown, but she is reported to be in stable condition.
"I've seen a lot of close calls here," said one woman who works near the rotary. "These kids do not want to go to the crosswalk in the middle. They cross where they're not supposed to and I see them get almost hit 10 to 15 times a day."
The driver, Wilvins Rosirus of Lynn, 32, has been charged with operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license in connection with the incident. He was arraigned Friday morning in Chelsea District Court.
