BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) – The Boston Athletics Association announced that it has a tentative date for this year’s Boston Marathon: October 11.
The Athletics Association said that date is contingent on road-races being allowed to take place as part of the Mass. reopening plan.
The Association chose the date in partnership with the eight communities along the marathon route. There will also be an option to run the marathon virtually.
“Canceling the 2020 Boston Marathon for the first time in its 124-year history was one of the hardest announcements to make," said Mayor Marty Walsh.
“I am hopeful that we'll get to enjoy the return of one of Boston's most storied traditions this fall.”
