BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — As Elon Musk and the Department of Government Efficiency continue their push to thin the federal workforce, Tesla owners and dealerships have been increasingly targeted with vandalism.

Tesla owners are speaking out as some of them have found their personal information doxed online. On one particular website, it requires people to prove they have sold their Tesla in order to have the information removed.

Cliff is from Braintree and has a brother who drives a Tesla. He said there is no way to justify the vandalism “no matter where you land politically.”

“They’re hurting people’s personal property,” said Cliff. “If they’re trying to hurt Elon Musk and Tesla, it makes no sense.”

Lisa from Norwell owns a Tesla and said she barely knew who Musk was when she bought the car. She just liked how it looked.

“Yeah, I don’t really care about the owner as much. The product is great, but that’s it,” said Lisa.

Most people said these types of protests are doing more harm to civilians than their intended targets of Musk and Tesla.

“People have nothing better to do,” said one woman. “It doesn’t have anything to do with people who are driving Teslas. They’re just driving them because they like the car.”
