BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Thanksgiving is Thursday, which means for those planning to cook that frozen turkey, the best day to thaw it out was Sunday.

Getting everything prepped and ready for the holidays can be stressful, especially when it comes to the turkey. For someone like Jean, who was visiting Boston from Washington, D.C., it helps to have someone who doesn't mind helping out with the heavy load that comes with overseeing the holiday meal.

"At my house we're hosting. I should say my mom is hosting at my house because she's there doing all of the work."

For foreign exchange students like Luca from Italy, gathering with friends is important, but the food is top of mind.

"Yes, my first American Thanksgiving, I'm so excited about that. I can't wait to spend time with my host family and try the turkey, so I hope that we're not going to burn it honestly."

While cooking may seem like a daunting task, some Bay Staters shared their advice for those who may not feel optimistic about their culinary skills.

"Pre-make most of the stuff Wednesday, put it in the refrigerator, and then all we gotta do is like really just put things in the oven on Thursday morning, except for the turkey. The turkey will take all day."

"Take it easy. It'll all come together."

"Just breathe. It'll all work out. It will. It just does."

"Slow down and enjoy the moment."
