BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The 46th Annual Boston International Antiquarian Book Fair in downtown showcased some of the world’s most rare and obscure manuscripts to literature enthusiasts all weekend long.
The three day event at Hynes Convention Center is celebrating the 75th anniversary of the Antiquarian Booksellers’ Association of America (ABAA).
With 100 book dealers and collectors from all over the world in attendance, there are a plethora of memorabilia from the U.S. to Europe and other countries, according to Julie Roper, executive producer of the book fair.
“We have things started at five dollars all the way up to five million plus priceless items,” Roper told WBZ NewsRadio.
Some of the titles on display include a rare first edition of Harry Potter and obscure vintage manuscripts, including an 18th century children’s board book at Patrick's booth.
“It’s the [alphabet] book but printed on extra heavy cardstock so it can withstand the ravages of use by children,” he said.
Joyce from Brattle Book Shop has been going to the fair since 1978 and said that there’s a wider price point now for everyone to be able to buy somethings. “It’s still worth something, and it’s still collectable, and they like it and enjoy it,” she said.
