BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — For the first time since 2019, the Big Apple Circus is back in Boston.

Opening night is Thursday under the big top tent at Suffolk Downs and runs through Nov. 2.

Called "The World’s Best Under Our Big Top," the Big Apple Circus is produced by Boston-based the Gold Group, EMC presents BAC, and Circus Vazquez.

Among the performers: the high-flying trapeze artists, the Flying Caceres; martial arts and acrobatic act, the Kung Fu Boys; comedian, clown, and handstand expert Boris Nikishkin; and Spain's trapeze artist Alex Lichner.

Lichner spoke about the love he has for the circus and being a trapeze artist. "Passion is the key of everything in life," he said. "That's what I want to share with the audience when I work, my passion for the circus, my passion for the art."

The Nicolodi Brothers, James and Dylan, have been dazzling audiences with their juggling and balancing skills.

16-year-old-James said his brother Dylan has a special skill. "He juggles a person, me, on top, and I do flips on top of his feet."

James and Dylan are 7th-generation circus performers.

Meanwhile, this is James' first time performing in Boston. "I still didn't explore it, but I will when I get the days off."
