SPRINFIELD, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Thousands of people returned to West Springfield on Friday for the 2024 Eastern States Exposition, also known as The Big E.
More than 70 thousand people were there on opening day and nearly 1.5 million visitors are expected to attend the big festival.
Established more than a century ago, The Big E is the largest fair in the east coast and the fifth largest in all of North America. This year, organizers welcome more than 75 new food orders, star-studded live entertainments, and thrilling new rides.
Cult classics like The Big E Cream Puff and corndogs returns. This year has a new "3 Buck Bites," small portions of popular dishes at participating vendors for only $3.
Headline performers on the main stage include Dustin Lynch, Diplo, and Big Time Rush throughout the month. Phil Wickham and Ludacris take the stage on opening weekend.
Another big return at the fair is the free flu and covid vaccination clinic on the front lawn. The clinic is open 10 a.m. - 7 p.m. everyday for the duration of the fair. The only form needed is an insurance card. Last year, the fair gave more than 3,500 vaccinations.
The Big E will be in Massachusetts until Sept. 29. Doors open daily at 8 a.m. Tickets start at $16 for adults and $10 for kids. More details about The Big E, click here.
