BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — President Joe Biden and Former President Donald Trump will have their first presidential debate Thursday night.

WBZ NewsRadio spoke with Bostonians at the South Street Diner about Thursday's debate. While many residents are interested in seeing what will happen, some told WBZ NewsRadio the 9 p.m. start time has them planning on watching a recap on Friday morning instead.

“I’m going to watch it after, try to make my own opinion off of it, [I’m] not super excited about the presidential race this year,” said one resident.

Alan told WBZ NewsRadio he could do away with the drama that comes with the debate; he is really looking for each candidate to clearly state their objectives.

“I really don’t like the political theater, but what really matters is the essence of whichever president’s political goals,” Alan said.

WBZ NewsRadio also asked residents which topics they hope will be discussed during the debate.

“Too much of our tax dollars are being spent on the military, especially as the United States enters more military conflicts,” Alan said.

Another primary concern is the high cost of living.

“So many people I know have three or four jobs, so many people I know are going into debt,” he added.

The state of the economy and inflation are among other top concerns for residents.

Tune in to the CNN Presidential Debate this Thursday at 9 pm on CNN or simulcast by listening LIVE to WBZ NewsRadio.
