NATICK, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Hundreds of fixtures and pieces of equipment from the closed Natick Mall Wegmans store are sitting on the auction block.
The grocery chain shut down the Natick Mall location in July a little over five years after it first opened. The auction website restaurantequipment.bid is now giving customers a chance to own parts of the store itself.
Across two auctions--one scheduled to end on Wednesday, the other on Thursday--people can bid on buffet tables, restaurant booths, pizza ovens, refrigerated salad bars, deli meat slicers, industrial fridges, produce baskets, dishwasher racks, and hundreds of other items. Another auction is set to follow.
As of Tuesday, many of the items up for grabs have bids as low as $1, while some have no bids at all.
The auction website has warned that they will not ship any of the items. Winning bidders must pick up their items themselves and will not be assisted in loading or removing them.
