FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Bill Belichick’s time with the New England Patriots has come to an end.

Belichick addressed the media at 12:00 P.M. on Thursday to announce that he and the team are mutually parting ways. The decision came after a disappointing season for the Patriots, finishing the year with only four wins.

“At this time, we’re going to move on and I look forward and [I’m] excited for the future, but always [will] be very appreciative of the opportunity here, the support here and, Robert, what you’ve done for me,” said Belichick.

At the press conference Belichick also thanked the Patriots fans and players that have supported him throughout his 24 year tenure with the team.

“Players win games in the NFL and I’ve been very, very fortunate to coach some of the greatest players that have ever played,” said Belichick.

Patriots Owner Robert Kraft thanked Belichick for all he did for the team, calling him “the greatest coach of all time.”

“Bill has taught me a lot over those years and we had high expectations for what we could achieve together. I think we were the only ones who had those expectations and I think it’s safe to say we exceeded them thanks to you,” said Kraft.

Bill Belichick spent 24 seasons with the Patriots. During that time, the team won 6 Super Bowls and 9 AFC Championships.
