NASHUA, N.H. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Inside a nondescript building in Nashua, N.H., there is a place where you can learn how to become a knight in shining armor.

Jaye Brooks is the owner of The Knights Hall. He said they teach people how to use swords and axes, all while wearing between 60 to 90 pounds of armor.

One of the trainers is Jaye’s own daughter, Marie. “I personally enjoy fighting men,” Marie said. “I have chopped men down with my ax, and it is my favorite part of the sport.”

Training is done with foam weapons and lots of padding. The steel comes out when trainees are tournament ready. And, there are a lot of tournaments.

Jaye is founder of Armored Combat Sports, a national league for knight fights.

“To go from the corporate world, to what was my passion as a hobbyist, it can’t be any better than that. It’s the American dream,” Jaye said.
