BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) – Boston will host the fourth edition of the Laver Cup at TD Garden from September 24 to September 26.

The annual tournament is held the second week after the US Open and features some of the world’s top players competing on either Team World or Team Europe.

Many of the players participating in the cup took in the city ahead of the action, including John McEnroe who is the captain of Team World.

“The intensity of the sports fan, even though I’m a New Yorker, you feel it and that’s what you want.”

Daniil Medevev with Team Europe just won the US Open. He said the attention from the match has been beneficial for his career.

“Some people that I’m fond of actually start talking to you.”

Italian player Matteo Berrettini hoped to spend some time in the North End, where people were rooting hard for him during his Wimbledon appearance.

“I have to go there and thank them,” he said.

The location of the Laver Cup rotates between Europe and the rest of the world cities each year.
